I had the the pleasure of moderating this timely roundtable on March 17, 2022, entitled:
“For a more effective strategy in the fight against sexual violence: sexual harassment, a form of violence that should be prevented in international cooperation.”

This event highlighted the different realities and issues experienced by international cooperation/development organizations and their partners in the Global South and deepened dialogue, while providing an important opportunity for knowledge building and sharing in order to better address all forms of sexual violence, including sexual harassment, within organizations and in relations with partner NGOs and local communities.

The event was organized by the Comité québécois femmes et développement (CQFD) of AQOCI.

As a contribution to this reflection, the fifth CQFD summary sheet on sexual violence was launched (in French):

Fiche 5 – La prévention et la lutte contre le harcèlement sexuel dans le secteur de la coopération et de la solidarité internationales

Following this event, the CQFD-AQOCI Committee on Sexual Violence will be updating and translating these summary sheets, and be able to better contribute to proposing best practices and mechanisms to prevent and address this problem within international cooperation/development organizations and with their international partners.

The event was in French with simultaneous translation in French, English and Spanish. The video recording is available here.

About the Author:

Drawing on a unique blend of skills & lived experience, raised in a Montreal-based Jewish family with a history of social entrepreneurship, I come to ALG through a non-linear path and bring a one-of-a-kind perspective. As a “recovering human rights lawyer” I bring together the pragmatic problem solver in me, guiding others to make things better, and the neurodivergent creative facilitator, educator and communicator, with a deep passion for human growth, connection and empowerment. In my free time, you can find me fawning over Maya, the family dog, doing yoga or meditating and on walks, so many walks, in rain, shine or snow. Most importantly I am called to help humans create more compassionate, safe and inclusive spaces and organizations where all women can thrive. This is what lights me up and makes me tick. On International Women’s Day 2021 I was honoured to be featured by World Pulse in the article: “Her Story Makes History: 21 Women Leaders to Watch in 2021” in the company of a group of 21 changemakers from 13 different countries who are connecting online to power change on the ground, and to have received a CREA Global Award from Brainz Magazine in 2022 and 2023 recognizing leaders in innovation, diversity and inclusion and in mental health projects.
